Arch Pain

Published by: Ted Yan August 21, 2020

Arch pain refers to pain across the bottom of the foot between the heel and the ball of the foot. Most arch pain is due to strain or inflammation of the plantar fascia. Flat feet and high arches are examples of structural issues that may lead to arch pain. It often affects runners and other athletes, but it can also occur in anyone.

A podiatrist may recommend physical therapy, night splints, or supportive shoes with specially designed shoe inserts or arch supports, or customized foot orthotics to reduce pain.
